George Abbot SCITT is a highly respected and well-established training provider working with a wide partnership of schools across Surrey.
With 18 years’ experience leading ITT, George Abbot SCITT is an Ofsted Outstanding provider offering practical training in a variety of schools, with experienced practitioners to mentor you through the course.
We lead the way!
In 2012 we were one of only two providers in the UK to have been asked by the DfE to lead the way in the future of teacher training in schools and run and develop the new SCITT programme.
In 2014/15 we became the only SCITT in the UK to be offering the innovative Researchers in Schools (RIS) programme in partnership with The Brilliant Club. Following our success the programme has now been rolled out across the UK. We have also developed a part time route to QTS and an SEN Specialist training programme in partnership with SEND Teaching School.

We believe in knowledge sharing.
We believe the best place to train teachers effectively in the highly complex art of teaching is in schools and the close links within the partnership provide trainees with a broad spectrum of experiences. Trainees meet for weekly training sessions, this enables them to share good practice and discuss their experiences in the different schools. Formal academic lectures and training sessions are delivered by serving teachers and experts in various fields.
Where you will be based
You will be based at one of the partner schools listed below for the majority of your training year, with the opportunity for an experience in a contrasting school for six weeks (four weeks for all salaried routes). All trainees will also have a one week experience in a Special School.
All main placements for the School Direct Unsalaried programme will be in partner schools graded ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. They include schools designated as ‘Teaching Schools’ in recognition of their excellent staff training and development programmes.
The list of partner schools we work with changes every year. If you have links to a school not listed below, get in touch. We are always happy to work with different schools.
